A piece of art as much as it is a everyday carry knife. This folder sports a CPM 20cv blade that was cryogenic treated and brought to 60rc hardness. A great stainless for a long lasting edge and great corrosion resistance. The back scale and front scales are hand anodized Grade 5 Titanium. Titanium chainring bolts hold it all together. Pocket clip and spacer are both Grade 5 Titanium. Textures on the blade and knife will keep your fingers busy fondling it every time you use it. These friction folders truly feel like a fixed blade when in use.
This custom knife was designed and handmade in Portland, OR. The exceedingly skilled craftsmanship and quality provided by OOAK Forge is seen in all of our products. We are very proud to say that they have the ability to be passed down and cherished through generations.
This type of folding knife is known as a Friction Folder. The oldest form of pocket knife, dating back 2,500 years. It is called so because it stays closed with just the right amount of friction. It stay open because you are holding it open against a stop. The shape of the handle prohibits it from closing on your hand, unique among this type of folder. I wanted to create a minimalists folding knife with dramatic aesthetics. Something that appeared to entered the atmosphere or had been through battle.
As many know our blades are a sculpture to be used. A work of art that is one of kind in performance and aesthetics. This blade shape makes a good all around cutter. Open boxes or cut the funny out of the news paper this will do it. The handle shape creates an extension of your arm. This blade shape also lends a tactically minded aesthetic. It is a very well balanced blade. Balance point is actually the pivot point.
